As a leading expert in the realm of academic advising, college admissions, financial aid, and scholarships, my mission is to educate and aid students through the college admissions process beginning as early as middle school and extending through graduate school. Working in education for almost 20 years has afforded me opportunities to work with thousands of students from around the world.
I’m currently the only Certified Financial Aid Advisor in the state of Washington, have my Master’s in Education, and I am a Certified College Counselor. I have done it all- from curriculum development to admissions, including five years as a university professor and leading corporate education at a large global company. After working in admissions for almost 10 years, I know the process inside and out.
As a teacher, I naturally love working with students and seeing the look on their faces when something finally "clicks." With college admissions, I find it to be even more rewarding because I know how much I'm impacting the rest of their lives. I love knowing that these students are not going to have to choose between paying off student loans, getting married, or buying a house.
Watching a student succeed and enjoy their college experience because they chose the right college for them brings me joy. I love being able to provide students and parents with options they never thought they had, and making a difference in every way possible.
I do not guarantee you will win money. I provide the pre-researched lists of verified scholarships and a course to assist in your success. The rest is up to you. Statistically, you will win 1/10 scholarships you apply for, but from experience, I will tell you it will be more like 1/15. Winning scholarships is a numbers game.
I’m constantly researching scholarships and updating the lists, so the number you get will vary. As of right now, there are over 400 scholarships, and that number is growing every day.
Private scholarships are offered by private organizations such as businesses or non-profits. The lists provided are scholarships offered by these private organizations.
Individual colleges and universities also offer scholarships, but they use their own endowment funds and methodology to award their scholarships. You will need to apply for those directly with your college, so they are not included on the lists I provide.
The scholarship lists are tailored for American students attending US colleges and universities. Many scholarships do not limit applications of foreign residents, but I do not guarantee that all scholarships will award funding to international students.
Since scholarships are sorted by categories, some scholarships may appear in more than one category. For example, a scholarship with no income requirement and no GPA requirement may be listed in both categories.
Maybe, maybe not. You will qualify for the majority on a list, but some scholarships have funny rules or requirements. It’s not much of an issue though. When you click the link to look at the scholarship, it will list all the requirements and materials they want from you.
I also recommend applying for a scholarship if you meet most of the requirements as you may be one of a few applying for the scholarship and could still get it. For example, if a scholarship wants a minimum GPA of a 3.5 and you have a 3.4, I’d still apply for it.
Financial Aid is a whole different world than private scholarships and requires a lot of strategy, similarly to how CPAs create tax strategies and file documents in a specific way to save money on taxes. If you need help with financial aid, I recommend adding the Financial Aid Made Easy course (Link) or working with one of our advisors privately. You can learn more about our financial aid services here.
